It was an unforgettable adventure. We hiked for miles a day, each carrying everything we needed: a tent, a sleeping bag, a mug, a bowl, some clothes, and food.
Stopping for rest, we made a fire, and someone cooked food. It tasted so much better under these conditions, by the way. I liked to sit with everyone around the fire in the evening and listen to interesting stories and sometimes horror stories. It was also very interesting to sleep in a tent, even though there were a lot of mosquitoes around. I had never seen such a starry sky before. Living in the city, you don’t notice such things.
My dad knows a lot about the natural environment and is teaching me. I can already distinguish many kinds of snakes and insects that are dangerous to humans, I know which plants you can eat and which you should stay away from. I know-how in the wilderness to find a water source and make a fire. I am sure that this knowledge will be useful to me in life.
One day we hired horses and did the crossing on horseback. I had a lot of new experiences. Horses are wonderful, intelligent, and very beautiful animals. At first, I was a little scared, but then I got used to them, got the hang of them, and enjoyed the ride. I got a calm white horse named Swallow. She listened to me and walked carefully.
This trip I will remember for a very long time. During the two weeks we spent there I learned a lot, became stronger, and more.
